First Snow
Alta published this photo on their website of their snowfall earlier this week. If it does rain on Oct 5 and turns to snow and it looks this pretty, I won’t complain at all.

Weddings in the family
So this weekend J ’s sister is getting married, thats the reason we are leaving so early for UT. They are getting married up Ogden canyon on a little cattle ranch – It should be really fun to see the cattle. They have a country western theme, complete with a blue grass band and everything. We will also go to their rehersal dinner and a potluck beforehand. Sounds like I have some delicious eating ahead.

There’s a nasty rumor going around that its going to rain on Oct 5th with temperatures dropping drastically! I don’t even know how to deal with that…so I won’t at least for now.

Leaving on a Delta Plane
Okay,so technically we are flying American Airlines, it just didn’t sound cool as a title. So we are leaving in 16 hours for UT. I can’t believe it, its been so stressful lately turning stuff in for school and I am really excited to not think about it for a while. I’ll deal with the consequences when I get back.
Its been a busy couple of days and its going to be super busy the next couple of hours! I got my dress back yesterday and it fits beautifully, thanks to all that extra weight I gained. Oh well!
This week, I also dealt with the case of the missing cake lady and got another one to do my cake instead. Also, I decided I didn’t like the flowers my mom wanted, so I’ll be making my own bouquet! We also finally have all our food finalized and it place and we hired the people I originally wanted. J and I also finally managed to find a tie for him that will look good with his suit! ( He looks hoooooottttt! )
I am so excited, hence the crazy rambling of superflous details.

Making it Legal
So like my last post said, on friday J and I went down to the court house to apply for a marriage license and also to have a judge sign it. The license office was downtown and since we don’t go to downtown durham very often, we immediately got lost.
Appylying for the license was a fairly easy part, we had to fill out a form, pay a $50 fee and then swear/affirm that we were not lying about who we were and sign our application. Me being the dork that I am had of course filled out the application wrong and on the box it says Are you two cousins, I marked yes! Thankfully it didn’t too long to fix.
After that we had to go to the Judge’s waiting room, which was a dull dreary white room and wait till 3pm when the judge would marry us. J and I were initially worried that getting this done would mean that we were taking something away from our real ceremony , but dealing with the bureaucracy and waiting around forever made us realize, this was more of a legal hassle than a ceremony. Our witnesses DS and Y arrived promptly at 2:45 and the judge called us into his office.
J of course , being the loud mouth that he is offended the judge
Judge: Hello young man, are u excited
J(in very bored voice): No
Judge: But u are getting married
J: yeah, but this is just a formality, we have a really nice ceremony planned, so really this is just something we have to do
And right after J said that , the poor Judge’s face crumpled and he was rather cold and distant the rest of the time. The judge had us stand and affirm that we wanted to get married, then had us hold hands and say a very distilled version of the traditional vows. J got a little emotional and I was on the verge, but I wanted to keep a little perspective. Thene he said we could kiss and the witnesses could sign and we were out of there. The whole “ceremony” took about 8 mins max.
After the ceremony, our witnesses and some friends we had asked to meet us went to a few bars to celebrate and then we took everyone out for dinner. It was a really fun night.

And it begins- Day1
Today is day 1 of the wedding festivities, activities, etc etc. We are leaving for the courthouse in about 45 mins to apply for our license and get a judge to sign our wedding certificate. I guess we’ll be legally married, but we are not going to think of it that way until our wedding day. This is just a formality aka…paperwork.
Our friends DS and Y are going with us as witnesses and then we’ll go out for drinks with a few other friends to have a small celebration.
Funny sidenote J and I realized that yesterday(Sep 20) is the first time he told me he loved me. It again was a technicality b/c we still did not define our relationship for another month after that. Looks like the same thing is happening for our wedding.
In other news, I leave for utah in 6 days!!! Holy Cow! I can’t believe it was almost a year away at one point. Will blog more when I get back!

VistaPrint- Vendor Review
Vendor – VistaPrint
Location-Online
Grade A-
I used Vista Print to print out my invitation enclosure cards and address labels. Even though I had heard mixed reviews about them on the wedding planning boards, I ended up having a pretty good experience with them. Their shipping was cheap and fast and I didn’t feel like I was paying through my nose just to get my stuff here on time. The other thing I really liked is that if you use their basic options the actual product price is really cheap! I paid $40 including shipping for 100 RSVP cards, 250 reception cards and #140 response labels.
The negatives for VistaPrint are that the quality of the paper is really not that great and if you are the type of person who likes hard copy proofs and need an exact match on the color they might not be the person for you. Also they innundate your mailbox with spam, which is not bad because that is how I was able to get the cheapest prices on my orders.
Overall, I was really happy with them and will definitely use them to print Christmas cards or other announcements.

Sir Speedy – Vendor Review
Vendor Name- Sir Speedy
Location- Durham NC
Grade- A+
Yes, I know they have a funny name but they really came through for me! I used their Durham location to get my wedding invitations printed and they did a fantastic job! They do the printing for our brochures and stuff at work and I had built up a good rapport with our sales rep -Amanda. She gave me a really good deal, cheaper than anywhere else- $60 for a 100 and only $9.00 for 5×7Euro flap envelopes. Not only was the price great, their graphic designer also made some changes for me at the last minute and they were able to get me the 5×7 envelopes in 2 days without charging me shipping. I had looked on Envelopemall.com and they were $12.99 plus $30 for 2 day shipping. Because of them, I was able to get custom envelopes at a price I could afford.
I definitely push Sir Speedy whenever we have work projects to print and I will definitely use them to print my thank you cards.

Invitation
I have been meaning to post it forever, but here is a final version of my invitation, reception and rsvp cards that I sent out.
You can click on the thumbnails for a larger view. I had them designed by Robin Makey, a very talented graphic designer and I had the invitations printed at a local printer and the enclosure cards printed at Vista Print. ( See my vendor reviews above).
We really like our invitation wording which said
Naina Doe
and
Jeff Doe
Together with their parents invite you to join in a
celebration of life, love and marriage
at 4pm
……..
