OJ Baby

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby’s legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can’t feel the movements.
This week, other than the fainting episode has been good. J and I have been pretty dull, he has been working on the weekends a little so I haven’t done too much other than catch up on reading and relax. My mom is in India again and I sort of miss talking to her, also I feel bad b/c I know she wanted to be super involved but family circumstances are such that she has to focus on my grandparents for now.
How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: – not sure, its been a bit erratic and I’ve not got on the scale this week.
Maternity clothes? Not yet, but things are definitely not fitting right. I moved up a size in shirts though
Stretch marks? No new ones. I started using the Palmers Cocoa butter and Vitamin E oil today along with regular moisturizer, hopefully, it will keep them away.
Sleep: I love sleep. love it. Can’t seem to get enough. Trips to the bathroom in the middle of the middle of the night are more frequent.
Best moment this week: Seeing how much the husib has grown from the fainting u/s I had last week. Also knowing that everything is still okay and I didn’t damage the husib in any way.
Movement: Supposed to start pretty soon
Food cravings: Italian Ice, Pizza and Aloo Gobi. I finally made the perfect batch and it hit the spot perfectly.
Gender: My intuition says girl. We find out Jul 23
Labor Signs: Too early
Pregnancy Symptoms: backaches, still some tiredness, and completely frazzled brain, also my face is looking puffy and feeling a bit lightheaded
Belly Button in or out? Innie.
What I miss: not having my old body. These days when I look in the mirror, I just don’t look like me
What I am looking forward to: feeling the baby move and finding out the sex.
Weekly Wisdom: Don’t go to Babies R Us , it will scare and overwhelm you. It was simply too much
Milestones: Finally checking out some baby gear.

R.I.P Michael Jackson
Wow! I can’t believe Michael Jackson is dead. I know he is a celebrity and a weirdo and perhaps a pedophile but he was iconic during my lifetime. He was so omnipresent everywhere when I was a child. I mean, for me when I was a child MJ was MTV. Not Nirvana, or Pearl Jam or any indie bands because I got into that a lot later in life Junior High/ High School. I also remember when one of his videos debuted on MTV and staying up late to watch it.
I have memories of summer afternoons with my cousins danceing to a Michael Jackson tape, thats right a cassette tape in a tape player!! Also MJ was also something J and I bonded over whenever we discussed music and we disagreed on some band we always knew we loved MJ. When we first started dating J would be silly ( and he still is) and try to moon walk with his favorite MJ song – They don’t really care about us. He even tried to teach me, but I don’t think moonwalking is for me.
We played my favorite MJ song at our wedding – The way you make me feel and my little cousin who is a total boy at 11 and hates dancing, totally bust out the moves. He loved it so much he even dressed up for halloween that year as MJ.
You will be missed Michael Jackson, you were a legend, an icon and definitely a star! You know its true because you were also batshit crazy!

Faint
I had a dumb day two days ago, I fainted at work, in my boss’s office no less. It was really embarrasing and sort of scary, becasue I hadn’t fainted before. But everything is okay with the husib and I was poked and prodded by doctors and their needles and they also took a lot of blood and an EKG. But the nice thing was, we got to see a quick glimpse of husib who is much larger even in these few short weeks.
I am so excited for my friend Jessica who finds out tomorrow if she is having a boy or a girl! Yaaaaay! Sending good vibes her way.

A Sunny Yellow Baby!
So I pretty much skipped a few weeks of weekly updates- I’ve skipped lime, prune, plum, and peach and finally this week we have Lemon baby at 14 weeks. I’m officially in the second trimester! yaaay! My nausea seems to have disappeared for the most part and I definitely have more energy but only in short spurts. If I walk for too long, or stand for too long by feet and back do hurt quite a bit. Also, have I mentioned that my boobs are huge, I mean HUGE!!!! I can’t stand it, but of course J being the boy he is , is very happy with them. As far as other pregnancy news, there really isn’t much to tell, we had an ultrasound and we have our big anatomy ultrasound scheduled for July 23rd which is only 4 weeks away and I guess we’ll know if we are having a boy or a girl, of course only if the husib cooperates. So onto the state of my womb then?

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.
How far along? 14 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: – minus 2lbs pre pregnancy weight, but I’ve been eating more so I think I’ll gain it all back
Maternity clothes? Not yet.
Stretch marks? No new ones
Sleep: I love sleep. love it, but I can’t sleep through the night anymore, I end up having to get up at least once to pee
Best moment this week: not this week specifically, but it was seeing the husib a few weeks ago and watching it bounce on its head.
Movement: Way to early
Food cravings: Hamburgers, mexican and Indian
Gender: Girl vibes lately but we find out for sure in a month I guess
Labor Signs: Too early
Pregnancy Symptoms: backaches, still some tiredness, and completely frazzled brain
Belly Button in or out? Innie.
What I miss: beer and wine, I think I’ve forgotten what wine tastes like
What I am looking forward to: more energy in the second trimester. I’ve been told second trimester is the promised land.
Weekly Wisdom: You can’t stay in denial forever
Milestones: 2nd tri

Mommy Brain
I have had three instances of terrible terrible Gestational Amnesia or whatever it’s called all in the one day that I was trying to entertain. J and I had some friends over on Sunday, they had a baby last year so they were going to come over and “enlighten” us about the whole experience and we just wanted to talk babies without feeling guilty. Well, lets just say it didn’t go smoothly
1) I burned two batches of Aloo Gobi- yep two. Burned the first batch, because I had the heat on too high and went to hurry into the shower, the second batch, because I was excited that our friends had come over so I completely forgot that it was on the stove.
2) I ruined my chicken curry. I had made a delicious delicious chicken kadai. I had the great idea of putting in the oven to warm, but I didnt’ realize that I had it in there too long and it burned too. This is my signature chicken dish, I make it all the time, I mean at least once a week and I screwed it up.
3) So now I had dinner guests who were expecting dinner and instead of 3 dishes I only had one dish of saag paneer that was actually edible left. So Jeff and I decided to order some indian takeout from Kabob and Curry to supplement my saag paneer. I was of course mortified in front of our guests, but I put up a brave face. BUt when I placed the order and they asked for my address, I had a complete blank out moment and could not remember our address, I had to run up to Jeff and frantically ask him what our address was.
I’m sure our friends think I’m on some kind of drug or just a supremely incompetent person and I’m not. I think I’m an okay cook and I’ve had dinner parties before, without burning anything.
Grrrr…Poor J, I feel like I let him down in front of his coworkers ,but as usual he was a great sport and he actually ate my burnt aloo gobi and burnt chicken…isn’t that sweet?
